YLVAYA design 2024-2025 Because every details count......

I used to work for big companies and I did many different designs with different materials for the home living. I think at that time I fall in love in porcelain as you have no limited of creativity. The small details count a lot for me in every step.

I make drawings by hand on millimeter paper in that way I feel and see in my head the creation.I think it is a little bit like when you are making a painting.I can redo the same line with my pencil many many times as it is important for me to have every pieces made in harmony even it is an organic shape.

My passions are the beauty of the nature and and it is for sure my biggest inspiration source. My inspiration is coming from the nature in the North of Norway, the culture of Sami, art and antique markets in Paris

The creations are made of biscuit porcelain to obtain a matte appearance to the touch of the raw material. Each piece has been carefully hand cut by skilled artisans to ensure the sharpness of the fine lines and transparency of the porcelain. Excellence is reflected in every detail, promising you not just a vase, but a work of art that will stand the test of time. All the pieces in the Spinn collection is made by hand and they all unique pieces.

Porcelain is a natural material made primarily from a mixture of clay, feldspar, quartz and Kaolinite . You are heating those raw materials. It is fired at a very high temperature (typically around 1,200 to 1,400°C), which makes it hard, durable, and translucent. The combination of these ingredients gives porcelain its smooth, white, and delicate appearance.

The production of porcelain involves several intricate steps, often requiring skilled craftsmen and specialized equipment

PROCESS :

The craftsman will first make  the mother mould made by clay out of my drawing. Out of the mother mould they will make the plaster mould for the production. The plaster moulds need to be changed often because of the thin lines. The plaster mould will be made of several pieces depending on the designs.

They fill the clay liquid into the mould and lock the mould tightly.

The clay body needs to be dry naturally .When it is dried, each piece will be cut by hand by skilled artisans to ensure the shape of the object and make sure that the edges are thin enough.

Then the body is fired for the first time.

After the first fire of the object the artisans will do the glazing part  which in my production is only inside the object. The glaze inside of the object makes it also waterproof.

When the object is dry they will fire it again at 1220 degrees.

Final inspection before packing all the objects one by one.
